Questa piccola proprietà fu costruita dal Senato nel 1574, in aumento di un semplice Calvario. Per l'aspetto attuale del tempio era responsabile Miguel Borralho, promotore della costruzione di una crociera e l'integrazione della stessa in una cappella chiusa, tutto questo nel 1751.

Come riferimenti stilistici abbiamo il neoclassico come strutturazione e il rococò come consigliere decorativo.
Secondo alcune cronache, fu vicino a questo luogo che D. Nuno Alvares Pereira ascoltò la messa prima della Battaglia degli Atoleiros nel 1384.
