La lagune de Sausalito correspond à l'ancien réservoir "Hacienda La Viña del Mar" de la famille Vergara. Il a été construit à une époque où la rareté de l'eau mettait en danger les vignobles. Actuellement, c'est un grand complexe touristique qui offre au visiteur la possibilité de profiter de la plage du lagon, des promenades en bateau, du ski nautique, des courts de tennis, des piscines et de divers divertissements pour adultes et enfants.

Santiago-Viña del Mar: route terrestre par la route 68 depuis Santiago et également par la route Vía Las Palmas. Valparaíso-Viña del Mar: Route terrestre par l'autoroute Viña-Valparaíso ou par l'Avenida España. Viña del Mar-Laguna Sausalito: route terrestre. Accès par la Calle Uno Norte, en tournant sur Av. Los Castaños.
Il possède également une réplique d'un bateau à vapeur du Mississippi, qui était utilisé comme discothèque flottante, fonctionnant aujourd'hui comme un restaurant.
