Bahía Mansa is the name of the geographical area located in the commune of San Juan de la Costa belonging to the Province of Osorno in the X Region of Los Lagos, Chile.

In this area there is a port and bay of the same name, and it is between the resorts of Pucatrihue and Maicolpue. The bay where the Bahía Mansa port is located, has a round shape and a narrow entrance, which gives it an ideal shape for use as a port.



It is also known for being one of the main areas where communities of the Huilliche people live. The island rocks of the grandfather Huenteao, sanctuary of this town, are released.



Oral history also indicates that there would have been a presence of Dutch pirates in 1700, those who came from Pernambuco, Brazil, and who wanted to settle in Bahía Mansa; due to its special characteristics as a port.

From Santiago de Chile, by plane. (1 hour flight)



By car

From the north and south, Osorno can be reached by Route 5 South or the Pan-American Highway.



By bus

Daily departures to Osorno from Santiago at the Santiago Rodoviario Terminal and Alameda Terminal.



By train

Daily departures at 8:30 p.m. from Alameda Station, located at Avenida Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins 3170, in Santiago de Chile.



It is a fishermen's cove and a center for collecting shellfish and larch tiles. It is located in a rugged and rocky bay that is accessed by skirting a hill. Formerly it was a small port.

Currently in this area there is a protected maritime area associated with the Lafken Mapu Lahual marine and coastal area, which protects a 30-kilometer long strip, and the first network of indigenous parks, which protects the flora and fauna of the native forest of this area; being considered one of the 25 most relevant centers of biological diversity on the planet, according to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
