Land of Stars ”, meaning of the Aymara word Collowara.

Its facilities, the main telescope and everything related to it, are administered by the Municipality of Andacollo, who have wanted to turn this observatory into a quality tourist alternative that can give the commune new strength and resources.





This observatory is located at 1,300 m.a.s.l., at the top of Cerro Churqui, in the commune of Andacollo, Coquimbo.



By plane

You must travel to La Florida de La Serena airport and then take locomotion to Coquimbo. Alternatives include taxis and public transportation.



By car

From the north or south you must travel along Route 5 in the direction of Coquimbo or La Serena. From Copiapó it is 344 km. and from Iquique 1,397 km. To the south, from Santiago there are 462 km. and from Los Vilos 231 km.



By bus

There are continuous frequencies from La Serena and neighboring resorts to Coquimbo. From Santiago there are departures every day. Check with the respective terminal.



Boat

Access by boat is limited to international cruise ships that arrive at the port of Coquimbo.



It features powerful 14-inch Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes, a conference projection room, and three cross-shaped direct observation decks facing east. The visit lasts two hours and can be coordinated by phone at (56) 51-432964 or by e-mail contacto@collowara.cl.
