Tourism
The Grand Baia was the first area of the island to experience the tourist boom, with the big shopping center and for those who want a fun night (restaurants, bars and nightclubs). Recently renovated, the beach of La Cuvette is well worth a visit.
The beautiful Pereybere public beach is popular because of its shops, restaurants and pubs.
A few meters away from the Baie aux Tortues, which seamen from the seventeenth century named after many turtles in the area, can be found the ruins of the former property Balaclava. Visitors will be able to see the sea walls, whose initial bases were established by the Mahé de Labourdonnais.
The longest village on the island, Triolet offers the opportunity to visit the largest Hindu temple, the Maheswarnath, first built in 1819 in honor of the gods Shiva, Krishna, Vishnu, Muruga, Brahma and Ganesha.
Discover a wide variety of tropical fruit trees, colorful and fragrant exotic flowers. Trips on mountain bikes or hiking are possible.
Gastronomy
True sensory challenge, the gastronomy of Mauritius is an extraordinary combination of cuisines as diverse as Creole, French, Indian and Chinese, with a natural predominance of the first.

Apart from the varied restaurants specialized in one of these kitchens, others there are that have buffets containing delicious combinations of dishes with diverse origins.
It will not be at all uncommon to find, alongside, an elaborate Indian chicken curry, a Chinese dish of pork with bamboo and the like, a potato gratin with French origin vegetables and a steak or fresh fish with loaded Creole sauce of tomato and piripiri. All, as a rule, accompanied by an omnipresent white rice that eclipses, by his assiduity, all the other usual accompaniments in the West.
Despite the diversity, once in Mauritius, it would be almost criminal not to prove the eccentric simplicity of Creole-origin cooking.
Being wholly dominated by thick, crisp tomato sauces, Creole cuisine nevertheless requires some adaptation by the more sensitive Western stomachs - although most restaurants in the areas with the highest tourist influx have already softened the cooked to please to the travelers that by these stops they venture.
