Summer is short, hot, humid, dry and cloudless; winter is long, cool, with strong winds and partly overcast skies. Throughout the year, the temperature generally ranges from 5 ° C to 32 ° C and is rarely below 1 ° C or above 35 ° C.
The best time of year to visit Catania and warm weather activities is from mid-June to early September.
The safety conditions are satisfactory. Although crime levels are low, attention should be paid to public transport and areas where large crowds are present or crowded, as theft, tugging, handbags or luggage are very common. Special care is recommended at major train stations, as well as public transport and the most popular tourist sites, including bus stops, restaurants, cafes and terraces.

Catania is one of the largest cities in Sicily in Italy. A historic city full of Roman ruins. It is situated at the foot of Mount Etna, an active volcano with trails leading to the summit. It borders Aci Castello, Belpasso, Carlentini (SR), Gravina di Catania, Lentini (SR), Mascalucia, Misterbianco, Motta Sant'Anastasia, San Gregorio di Catania, San Pietro Clarenza, Sant'Agata li Battiati, Tremestieri Etneo. The city's large central square, Piazza del Duomo, includes the Fontana dell'Elefante statue and the stunningly decorated Cathedral of Catania. La Pescheria Market is a noisy weekday show in the southwest corner of the square and surrounded by seafood restaurants.
Visit the fish markets, bakeries, bars and stalls to sample the best Sicilian street food. Try regional specialties such as 'arancini' (stuffed fried rice balls), sodas, 'cipollata' (bacon-wrapped onions), 'zibibbio' wine and cannoli. Learn what makes Sicilian cuisine unique to the rest of Italy while discovering some of Catania's cultural treasures.
