Valdivia is a tourist area, especially in summer, where fun activities such as Valdivian Week are held. Among its attractions are many natural areas, such as Oncol Park and the city of Corral, with the Niebla Balneario (Fog Spa), famous for the presence of Spanish forts and castles built in the colonial era.
It also has a unique culture, with varied traditions and rooted identity, corresponding to a mix of Mapuche customs with strong European influence from Spanish and German immigrants who settled in the area. Therefore, it is considered a bohemian city with many places and landscapes to enjoy the nightlife.
Another of its traditions is the production of craft beers, such as brewed at the German Kunstmann factory, which offers tours, a restaurant where you can taste different flavors and a gift shop.

In addition, in the city there is the 1960 Valdivia Museum and Archive, Earthquake and Tsunami, where the nature of these natural phenomena is explained and there are records illustrating the effects of the event that occurred in the area during that year.

Gastronomy
The cuisine in Valdivia is a mix of Spanish and Mapuche-Huilliches influences, as well as German-style preparations that locals have brought.
Flavors such as craft beer, marzipan, chocolate and sausages are examples of European preparations that have arrived in this sector and introduced in traditional dishes.
Some of the typical dishes of the region are kassler-style smoked pork chops, meat pastries accompanied by baked potatoes, apple sauce and sauerkraut, among others. Of course you can not forget to mention the valdiviano, a broth made with dried meat and onion, created by Spanish soldiers in colonial times.
Typical local drinks are craft beers, such as those brewed at the Kunstmann factory. Beer festivals where you can try different flavors are also celebrated.
As for restaurants, the waterfront has a wide range, from traditional food to international cuisine. At Muelle Fluvia and the Central Market, you can eat fish and seafood and taste traditional dishes with local products from the region.
